frequently asked questions
Yes, YK Sitter is proud to be insured and bonded for your and your pets safety and peace of mind through Economical Insurance.
Sitters can visit clients' homes up to 4 times per day:
“Morning” = between 7 & 10a.
“Mid Day” = between 11:30 & 3p.
“Evening” = between 4:30p & 7:30p.
“Goodnight” = between 8 & 10p.
Overnight Stays are a minimum of 12-14hrs (evening to morning care). Additional time is at your pet sitters choice and enjoyment.
**If your pet needs specific times for medications or special diets please let us know and give details in your pets profile so we may accommodate.**
No longer than 12 hours will ever go in between visits.
For example, if your pooch was visited at 8pm, the sitter would arrive to your home no later than 8am the following morning. We offer 15-minute, 30-minute and 60-minute visits. The client chooses the duration of the visits and can mix and match to design the best plan for his or her pet.
Note: The 15-minute visit option is not offered to clients who will be out of town and have not booked two 30 or 60 minute visits. 15 minutes is not enough time to visit with a pup that has been on their own for an extended period of time because this visit is meant to be a potty break, not a walk or individual visit.
We accept payment by all major credit cards or email money transfer.
We don’t accept cash or cheques for services. If you would like to leave a gratuity for your sitter, you can certainly do so via cash.
On the following holidays, there is an additional fee of $10 for services:
New Years Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Aboriginal Day, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Civic Holiday, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Eve.
• 0-3 days prior to any service, and/or holidays: Payment in full is charged
• 4-7 days prior to any service, and/or holidays: 50% of service total is due
• 8-13 days prior to service: 25% of service total is due
• 14 days prior to service or more: No charge, credit in full.
We schedule our sitters time very carefully & limited space is available. Therefore, we are unable to make exceptions to our cancellation policy. Please login to your client portal to submit all cancellations. All cancellation policies apply as soon as the services are booked. All holiday service deposits are non-refundable.
CONTINUOUS SERVICE CANCELLATIONS
Cancellations with 24-hour notice or more will be accepted.
Cancellations with less than 24-hours’ notice will be charged for the scheduled visits as we will not be able to re-book your time slot. We will not book regular service on holidays. If you wish to keep your regular visit on a holiday, be sure to put a formal service request in.
WEATHER CANCELLATIONS
During frigid temperature days (-30° below), we will only keep your pet outside long enough for a quick walk and potty relief. If a longer visit is scheduled on these days, the remaining time of the visit will be spent inside with lots of play, mental exercise, and attention. We understand if you prefer to cancel without charge on these days, however, please do so by 8:30am the morning of or the service will be charged in full. Please make sure all snow/ice is cleared from your driveways/walkways so that your pet sitter may access your home safely during winter weather.
Our sitter roster is full of excellent pet sitters that would love to care for your pet if your primary sitter is unavailable. Since we have all pet care information stored in our secure database, we do not need to schedule an additional consultation.
If you would feel more comfortable with your pet meeting the alternate sitter before service, we can accomodate a second consultation. The cost of this consultation is $30, which covers the sitter’s time and expense for driving over to the client’s home.
If we suspect that something is wrong with your pet, we will call you at the emergency phone numbers we have on file. If you want a vet to look at your pet, we will transport them to the veterinarian’s office for examination and treatment. In the event we cannot reach you, we will decide if the veterinarian should see your pet. If necessary, we will take your pet for treatment. You will be billed for any extra time we spend for these services.
